Seeing the island from the sea is definitely one of the things not to be missed!
Organize a day on a boat by renting a simple one dinghy without a boat license.
This is one of the best ways to enjoy Elba, especially when the beaches are too crowded π
You will find many rentals located throughout the island, in particular in the localities of Marina di Campo, Fetovaia, Sant'Andrea, Marciana Marina, Procchio, Biodola, Portoferraio, Lacona, Capoliveri.
3 recommended itineraries for one day (or half day)
1. FROM MARINA DI CAMPO TO MARCIANA (south-west / north-west side)
Leaving from Marina di Campo, coasting the island clockwise, heading south-west, until you reach the small and pretty port of Marciana Marina.
Along the route, there are several points not to be missed: the Blue Grotto, just before the Gulf of Cavoli; the βseccheβ (or pools) of Seccheto, Punta di Fetovaia, the Wreck of Pomonte, the 'lunar' cliff of Sant'Andrea and countless dream coves that can only be reached by sea!
2. FROM PROCCHIO or BIODOLA TO PORTOFERRAIO (north side)
Leaving from Procchio or from the Biodola beach, continuing clockwise, skirting the island towards the north east you reach the coast of the so-called 'white beaches' until reaching the tip of Portoferraio.
This part of the coast is very varied: initially characterized by rocky coves, and then transformed into very white stones that distinguish the stretch from Sansone to the Spiaggia delle Ghiaie in Portoferraio. The water, especially near the shore, has incredible transparency!
3. FROM MARINA DI CAMPO or LACONA TO CAPOLIVERI (south-east side)
Starting from Marina di Campo or Lacona, continuing counterclockwise you cross the Golfo Stella, full of hidden coves, until you reach Punta Calamita, skirting the entire promontory on which the town of Capoliveri stands. Here the landscape is characterized by dark rock, sometimes amber, the seabed is truly colorful and the emerald green water is a constant!
